Eugenia Silva, Laura Rojas-Marcos, and Carmen Posadas join the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute as Cultural Advisory Committee Members

 

NEW YORK, NY February 22nd 2021. The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute (QSSI) has incorporated three new members to its Cultural Advisory Committee: Eugenia Silva, Laura Rojas-Marcos, and Carmen Posadas. Experts in their professional fields, these new additions will help develop and strengthen the cultural mission of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in New York. “These three women are powerhouses at the top of their fields. They fully represent our mission as citizens of the world with deep connections to Spain and the Americas and with culture at the forefront of their lives,” says Patrice Degnan, COO and Executive Director of the QSSI.

Eugenia Silva is a world-renowned Spanish model, who broke barriers in the fashion industry when she served as the image of Oscar de la Renta, former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute. Having appeared on more than 100 magazine covers such as Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Vogue, more recently, she has expanded her reach in beauty, style, business, and philanthropy.

Laura Rojas-Marcos is a psychologist, researcher, and speaker, considered one of the 100 most influential Spanish women. She has worked in hospitals and institutions across the U.S. and Spain, authored numerous books, and reached international acclaim for her expertise in anxiety, depression, stress, and relationships.

A Spanish-Uruguayan award-winning author, Posadas has published novels, children’s books, essays, and short stories. She has been lauded as one of the most outstanding writers of her generation by Newsweek Magazine and was the winner of the prestigious 1998 Planeta Prize.

Comprised of 15 members, the Cultural Advisory Committee of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute gathers leading experts in a variety of disciplines to provide insight and enrichment on activities, grants, and other collaboration efforts to share the legacy of the Spanish-speaking world. Other members include Chef and Restauranteur José Andrés, President of Fundación Callia Carmen Reviriego, Composer and Professor at The Juilliard School Ricardo Llorca, and Former Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education Carmen Fariña.
