Presentation of Projects and Signing of Collaboration Agreement Between the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, the Royal Academy of History of Spain, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History

 

 

The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, the Royal Academy of History of Spain, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute signed a collaboration agreement in an event held at the Royal Academy of History of Spain in Madrid.

The signing of this agreement between the Royal Academy of History, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute and The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History means formalizing the access of the work and contents of the Royal Academy of History to a large number of American educational institutions, highlighting the importance of Spain in the history of North America and, more specifically, in the independence of the United States.

At this event, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute launched their educational app Quizstory: Spanish Friendship and its accompanying Teacher Guide in Spanish. The first collaborative project, a set of three posters explaining different aspects of Spain’s contribution to the American Revolutionary War were also presented for the first time, and throughout the coming years, new educational resources will be made available.

This didactic material will be distributed by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, an American institution whose mission is to promote knowledge and understanding of American history through educational resources and programs, with access to a network of more than 32,500 partner schools, 82,000 teachers and 10.7 million students.

The event, which took place at the headquarters of the Royal Academy of History on Friday, March 17 was presided by Her Majesty Queen Sofía, and included the participation of Carmen Iglesias, director of the Royal Academy of History, Begonia Santos, Executive Director of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute and James G. Basker, President and CEO of The Gilder Lehrman Institute.
