“La fascinante historia de la lengua española”

To kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month 2021, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute has invited celebrated authors of Spanish-language children’s books, Isabel Campoy and Alma Flor Ada to speak about their latest book, their lives and work, and the beauty and value of the Spanish language. This conversation will be moderated by member of the QSSI Cultural Advisory Committee, Dr. Cristina Domenech.

The Fascinating History of the Spanish Language takes the reader on a journey back in time to the origins of the Spanish language. The rise of Rome, the civilization of Greece, the Visigothic invasion, the Arab conquest, the Spanish exploration, the Indigenous richness and other new horizons have contributed to the rich, diverse, and fascinating history that makes the Spanish language, which has enriched Hispanic culture and the people who speak Spanish.

Para empezar el Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana en 2021, el Queen Sofia Spanish Institute ha invitado a las célebres autoras de libros para niños en español, Isabel Campoy y Alma Flor Ada, para hablar sobre su último libro, sus vidas y su trabajo, y la belleza y el valor del lenguaje español. Esta conversación será moderada por la Dra. Cristina Domenech miembro del Comité Cultural del QSSI.

“La fascinante historia de la lengua española” lleva al lector a realizar un viaje en el tiempo a los orígenes de la lengua española. El surgimiento de Roma, la civilización griega, la presencia visigoda, la conquista árabe, la exploración española, la riqueza amerindia y otros nuevos horizontes que han contribuido a la rica, diversa y fascinante historia de la lengua española, que ha enriquecido la cultura hispana y las personas que la hablan.
