Open Call for 2024 Translation Prize Submissions

The Queen Sofia Spanish Institute is delighted to announce that submissions for our 2024 Translation Prize are now open.

 

With the aim of elevating awareness and engendering appreciation of Spanish-language literature in the United States, this $10,000 prize was created to honor the best English-language translation of a literary work written in Spanish.

Eligibility for the 2024 Translation Prize:

  1. Submissions must be prose fiction or literary non-fiction (e.g. memoirs).
  2. Submissions may be made by publishers, authors, or translators for this prize.
  3. The book must be a translation from Spanish into English.
  4. The book may be translated by a translator based anywhere in the world.
  5. Co-translations are accepted.
  6. The translated book must have been published in the previous calendar year (in 2023).

The winner of the 2024 Translation Prize will be awarded a $10,000 prize. The award ceremony will take place in November 2024 in New York City.

Submission Deadline Extended until March 20th at 11:59 pm (EST)

The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute suggests a $25.00 donation for each submission. This fee is waived for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
