The Electronic Biographical Dictionary (DB~e) of the Royal Academy of History is a digital resource created to access the largest database of content about historical figures from Spain and other territories that once formed part of the Spanish Administration.

 

Speakers:

  • Carmen Iglesias, Ph.D, Director, Royal Academy of History
    • Carmen Iglesias is the first woman to head the Royal Academy of History in Spain since its founding in 1736. She is a distinguished tenured Professor of Political Science at the Universidad Complutense and the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid. Prestigious students of Dr. Iglesias include HM King Felipe VI. She has led the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies and served on the Consejo de Estado. Dr. Iglesias has received numerous honors including the Gran Cruz de Alfonso X El Sabio.

 

  • Susan Parker, Ph.D, Executive Director, St. Augustine Historical Society
    • Susan Richbourg Parker specializes in the Spanish presence in the U.S. South. She holds a Ph.D. in colonial history and taught at the university level. She was a historian for the State of Florida and executive director for the St. Augustine Historical Society. She served as research director for “Secrets of Spanish La Florida” documentary (Secrets of the Dead, PBS).

 

  •  Jaime Olmedo, Ph.D, Technical Director, Royal Academy of History
    • Jaime Olmedo serves as the Vice President of the Fundación Duques de Soria and also teaches Spanish Literature and History at the Complutense University of Madrid. He previously served in the Academic Department of the Cervantes Institute (1998-2002) and in the Royal Spanish Academy (2000-2002) in Madrid.
