In a symposium presented by the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute (QSSI) and the Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC), join us for lectures, panel discussions, and other activities exploring Spain’s pivotal contributions to the American Revolution. Featuring distinguished scholars from both sides of the Atlantic, the symposium will offer a rigorous and engaging exploration of Spanish Louisiana’s strategic, social, and cultural role during the American Revolution.

This symposium is presented by the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute (QSSI) and the Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC) in collaboration with Fundación Ramón Areces (FRA) and Fundación Reina Sofía with support from the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in the United States and the Consulate General of Spain in Houston. This will be the third symposium in QSSI’s America&Spain250 initiative and a cornerstone event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
In addition to academic lectures at the Historic New Orleans Collection, the program will include cultural experiences in some of New Orleans’s most emblematic historic settings, including St. Louis Cathedral and the Cabildo.
Registration will open on Monday, August 10.
