The third edition of the Quizstory Podcast Award included the participation of dozens of schools across Madrid.
The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Universities of the Community of Madrid and the Royal Academy of History of Spain, celebrated the third edition of the Quizstory Podcast Award on May 12, 2026. The educational initiative invites secondary school students to explore and share the contributions of Spain to the independence of the United States through the creation of original podcasts.
This year’s edition brought together 44 podcast submissions — 20 in Spanish and 24 in English — created by more than 200 students from schools across the Community of Madrid. During the award ceremony, held at IES Beatriz Galindo, Begoña Santos, President and CEO of the QSSI, congratulated the students on the high quality of their work and emphasized the importance of historical research among younger generations.
The competition forms part of the America&Spain250 initiative, launched to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States while increasing awareness of the contributions of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world to this historical process.
Following the award ceremony, a reception was held at the official residence of the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Spain, Ms. Rian Harris, who hosted the winners, teachers, and guests attending the event.
