Watch the Videos of the II America&Spain250 Symposium

H.M. Queen Sofía presided over the opening of the II America&Spain250 Symposium, held at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. The inauguration featured a captivating performance by an actor portraying Bernardo de Gálvez, who brought historical primary sources to life, followed by a keynote lecture by Gonzalo Quintero Saravia, highlighting Spain’s pivotal role in the American Revolution.

Organized by the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute (QSSI) in collaboration with the Ramón Areces Foundation and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the event gathered an enthusiastic audience and featured informational tables and booths from various cultural organizations of Spain and the United States, which connected attendees with educational materials on Spain’s contributions to the birth of the United States.

The symposium continued on Saturday with an engaging academic program. Her Majesty Queen Sofía attended the keynote lecture by Professor Richard L. Kagan and visited the informational booths to observe the materials displayed.

The QSSI extends our heartfelt gratitude to all the professors who participated with their outstanding lectures, and to all the partners whose collaboration made this event possible: the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Ramón Areces Foundation, and the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain.
