Dr. Laura Rojas – Marcos is member of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute’s Cultural Advisory Committee
Laura Rojas-Marcos is a Doctor in Clinical Psychology and Health, considered one of the 100 most influential Spanish women. She has worked in hospitals and institutions across the U.S. and Spain, authored numerous books, lectured widely, and appeared on national television programs including “The Adventure of Knowledge.” Dr. Rojas-Marcos reached international acclaim for her expertise in anxiety and depression, oncology, substance abuse and addiction, domestic violence, eating disorders, emotional and social intelligence, and therapy for families, couples, and individuals. She is a member of the Royal Academy of European Doctors and the European Psychology Federation.
Dr. Rojas-Marcos is eager to contribute her cross-cultural perspective to the QSSI as a member of the Cultural Advisory Committee, and she looks forward to expanding the Institute’s longstanding interest in the medical field, beginning with a series of lectures on health and wellness during the pandemic. “Having roots in both New York City and Madrid, the mission of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute to help the U.S. and the Spanish-speaking world find common ground is close to my heart. Throughout the pandemic, we have seen that we are all missing our old sense of pre-COVID community, and in the meantime the QSSI has helped to bring people together through cultural exchange. I’m so excited to continue to build bonds between cultures, especially at this time when we need it the most.”
Dr. Rojas-Marcos will be a speaker at the virtual event “Coping with Change and Emotions During COVID-19” where she will discuss pandemic fatigue with fellow Spanish psychologist and author Dr. Alejandra Vallejo-Nágera.
