Queen Sofia Spanish Institute's Visit to Washington, D.C.

Last week, from June 14-17, members of the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute’s executive team visited Washington, D.C. to meet with different partners and collaborators of the Institute.

 

The Institute’s delegation had the opportunity to meet with the Spanish Ambassador to the U.S., Mr. Santiago Cabanas to continue fostering ties between Spain and the U.S.

The Institute reaffirmed its commitment to promote appreciation of the Spanish language in the United States with non-profit organizations Friends of the American Latino Museum and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.

Likewise, the Institute showed its dedication to the cultural areas of gastronomy, history, and education to Think Food Group, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Teresa Valcarce, who managed to place the portrait of Bernardo de Galvez in the United States Capitol Building.

As summarized by the executive director of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, Patrice Degnan, “this trip has served to strengthen our partnerships with collaborating entities and will be key to continue developing programs and events with impact and value for the community. Though New York based, our organization cares deeply about sharing our mission throughout the United States, which starts here in our nation’s capital.”

La semana pasada, del 14 al 17 de junio, miembros del equipo ejecutivo del Queen Sofía Spanish Institute visitaron Washington, D.C. para reunirse con diferentes socios y colaboradores del Instituto.

 

La delegación del Instituto tuvo la oportunidad de reunirse con el Embajador de España en Estados Unidos, D. Santiago Cabanas para seguir fomentando los lazos entre España y Estados Unidos.

El Instituto reafirmó su compromiso de promover la apreciación de la cultura hispana en Estados Unidos con las organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro Friends of the American Latino Museum y la Hispanic Heritage Foundation.

Asimismo, el Instituto enfatizo su dedicación en las áreas culturales de la gastronomía, la historia y la educación reuniéndose con Think Food Group, las Hijas de la Revolución Americana y Teresa Valcarce, quien consiguió colocar el retrato de Bernardo de Gálvez en el edificio del Capitolio de Estados Unidos.

Como resume la directora ejecutiva del Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, Patrice Degnan, “este viaje ha servido para fortalecer nuestras alianzas con las entidades colaboradoras y será clave para seguir desarrollando programas y eventos con impacto y valor para la comunidad. Aunque con sede en Nueva York, nuestra organización se preocupa profundamente por compartir nuestra misión en todo Estados Unidos, que comienza aquí, en la capital de nuestra nación.”
