On June 13th, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute hosted a special screening of The Quinta’s Ghost, a Spanish short film selected for the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, at NeueHouse.
The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute (QSSI) brings Spanish film to the U.S. through their support of the 60th New York Film Festival (NYFF). The QSSI provided Film at Lincoln Center a grant for the purpose of supporting Spanish-speaking artists bringing their work to the NYFF.
On the occasion of the first United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism, the QSSI co-sponsored a screening and conversation about the Goya Awarded Film “Maixabel” with special guests including Maixabel Lasa.
On August 14th, 2020, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute hosted the United States premiere of the short film “Canción triste de alubias,” winner of the Fundación REPSOL Breaking Barriers award. In addition to the premiere, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute also hosted a Q&A with filmmakers Oksana Savchuk and Alba Esquinas who spoke about their lives as filmmakers and the inspiration for this accoladed short film.
