PostClassical Ensemble Celebrates Manuel de Falla in Washington, D.C.

On October 23, 2026, the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute proudly supported Falla in Context: The Concerto, a special performance by PostClassical Ensemble, conducted by Spanish maestro Ángel Gil-Ordóñez, at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C.

The concert explored the musical heritage of Spanish composer Manuel de Falla (1876–1946), focusing on his Concerto for Harpsichord and Five Instruments (1926). Through a program spanning Renaissance sacred music, works by Spanish composers Antonio Soler and Mateo Albéniz, and contemporary compositions, the performance highlighted the musical traditions that shaped Falla’s distinctive artistic language.

Founded in 2003 by conductor Ángel Gil-Ordóñez and music historian Joseph Horowitz, PostClassical Ensemble is a Washington, D.C.-based chamber orchestra renowned for its innovative approach to classical music.
