Open Call for 2022 Translation Prize Submissions

The Queen Sofia Spanish Institute is delighted to announce that submissions for our 2022 Translation Prize are now open.

 

With the aim of elevating awareness and engendering appreciation of Spanish-language literature in the United States, this $10,000 prize was created to honor the best English-language translation of a literary work written in Spanish.

Eligibility for the 2022 Translation Prize:

  1. Submissions must be fiction or literary non-fiction (i.e. memoirs)
  2. Submissions may be made by publishers or translators for this prize
  3. The book must be a translation from Spanish into English
  4. The book may be translated by a translator based anywhere in the world
  5. The book must have been published in the previous calendar year (in 2021)

The winner of the 2022 Translation Prize will be awarded a $10,000 prize. The award ceremony will take place in October 2022 in New York City.

Submission Deadline: March 11th at 11:59 pm (EST)

The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute suggests a $25.00 donation for each submission. This fee is waived for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
